چکیده

The mixing of a new Z ′ boson with the Z significantly improves the fit to the LEP precision electroweak data, provided that the Z ′ couples mainly to quarks. If M Z 2 < 200 GeV, the s-channel Z 2 production and (W, Z, γ)Z 2 pair production cross sections at the Tevatron give an excess above QCD of b ¯ b and (W, Z, γ)b ¯ b events, respectively, with invariant mass m(b ¯ b) ≈ M Z 2 , which provide viable signals for detection of the Z 2 .

Implications of Γ ( Z → bb̄ ) for Supersymmetry Searches and Model - Building

Assuming that the actual values of Mt at FNAL and of Γ(Z → bb̄)/Γ(Z → hadrons) at LEP are within their current 1σ reported ranges, we present a No-Lose Theorem for superpartner searches at LEP II and an upgraded Tevatron. We impose only two theoretical assumptions: the Lagrangian is that of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with arbitrary soft-breaking terms, and all couplings rem...

The Z → bb̄ Excess and Top Decay

The apparent excess of Z → bb̄ events at LEP may be an indication of new physics beyond the standard model. However, in either the two-Higgs-doublet model or the minimal supersymmetric standard model, any explanation would lead to an important new decay mode of the top quark and suppresses the t → Wb branching fraction, which goes against what has been observed at the Tevatron. In the two-Higgs-...

Baryonic Z' explanation for the CDF Wjj excess.

The latest CDF anomaly, the excess of dijet events in the invariant-mass window 120-160 GeV in associated production with a W boson, can be explained by a baryonic Z' model in which the Z' boson has negligible couplings to leptons. Although this Z' model is hardly subject to the Drell-Yan constraint from Tevatron, it is constrained by the dijet data from UA2 (√s=630 GeV), and the precision meas...

Confronting left-right symmetric models with electroweak precision data at the Z peak.

In view of the recent and future electroweak precision data accumulated at LEP and SLC, we systematically analyze possible new physics effects that may occur in the leptonic sector within the context of SU(2)R × SU(2)L × U(1)B−L theories. It is shown that nonobservation of flavour-violating Z-boson decays, lepton universality in the decays Z → ll̄, and universality of lepton asymmetries at the Z...

Electroweak Data and Standard Model Fit Results

Most recent tests of the Standard Model of the electroweak interaction are reported using data from the four LEP experiments ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, the SLD experiment at SLC, the Tevatron p¯ p experiments CDF and D0, and the NuTeV neutrino experiment. Consistency of the Standard Model is studied. The value of the Higgs mass is inferred from a global fit. Latest precision electroweak data (...
